Gemini on Web Gets Support for Google Keep and Google Tasks Extensions

  • by

Recently, Google has launched an extended feature for its AI chatbot Gemini, where the Gemini extensions for Google Keep and Google Tasks will now support the Gemini web users. These extensions were first limited to the Gemini app for Pixel 9 users. However, Google’s approach to enforcing inclusiveness lets them roll out the feature for all the Gemini web users.

The two applications- Google Keep and Google Tasks can be accessed through Gemini Web. Google Keep will let you record notes and create lists. A user can let Gemini access these notes and instruct it to perform a specific work. On the other hand, Google Tasks help you keep track of the tasks. Its integration with Gemini will let users add reminders and ask the AI to update and follow up on those particular tasks.

Before you begin, make sure you are signed in to the Google Workspace account. You can find the Google Keep and Google Tasks on the web version of Gemini. It can be seen under the Workspace extension on the settings page of the AI Bot. Once you land on the Gemini webpage, go to the settings and click on extensions. A Google Workspace option will appear, where you will be able to activate the extensions.

After the activation, the extension can be used through the Gemini interface. A user has to type in ‘@’ in the text box and follow it with the extension name to use the specific feature. These two extensions can be used via prompt language on the Gemini web browser.

While using the Google Keep extension, the users can further obtain suggestions from the AI Bot. These recommendations can be altered by the users and can be added directly to the list. Users can also create notes based on the conversation with the bot. However, Gemini won’t be able to work on the existing notes. One cannot expect the AI Bot to modify or share the notes that pre-existed in the Google Keep.

Other than that, Gemini can be used to set up tasks through the Google Tasks extension. Users can guide the AI through prompts and set up reminders for upcoming tasks. One has to provide the date, time, and task details to Gemini and instruct the bot to set the reminder.

While initially, the Gemini extension feature was exclusively available for the Pixel 9 users via the Gemini app, the parent company decided to make it freely available to every user. This could be a progressive approach towards making AI accessible to every user. It could also be Google’s strategy to bring in more users and compete with ChatGPT and other platforms.

However, the two new extensions would extend the usage of Gemini to personal lives. The AI Bot assistant can process information through extensions. Some of the users are concerned with the Gemini peeking into their notes and tasks.

The features are still new and could take some time for Gemini users to get accustomed to them. From another perspective, the integration of the two extensions could evoke interest among the users to try out the feature and access Gemini AI.
