Meta’s new annual Connect conference which took place in California unveiled its new Meta Quest 3S headset, which will be available at a low price of $300. The company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg also discussed introducing the Llama 3.2 model, Orion smart glass, and AI improvements for Ray-Ban smart glasses.
The company’s new VR headset Quest 3S; the upgraded version of Quest 3 is available with 128 and 256 GB of internal storage. One can have an immersive experience with Batman Arkham Shadow included with the purchase of the Quest 3S headset. Quest 3S has similar features to the Quest 3 model. The difference arises in the headset designs and Fresnel lenses.
Further, Meta CEO introduced their new prototype Orion, the company’s first AR-based futuristic glasses. Zuckerberg claimed the Orion to be the most advanced glasses the world has ever witnessed. The glasses would consist of a neural interface which would help you perform functions through brain signals. It also contains hand and eye tracking, and an AI voice assistant.
Meta partnered with an application ‘Be My Eyes’ that will collaborate in making smart glasses for visually impaired people. The Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses will help blind people by describing their surroundings and assisting them with day-to-day tasks.
The tech giant didn’t stop here. Their potent customizable model Llama gets an upgrade with the introduction of Llama 3.2. It consists of small and medium-sized vision LLMs that will empower Meta AI. It will be an open-source model that will be available across the globe except the European Union. Furthermore, the Meta AI will also contain the voices of renowned celebrities.
Meta is also refurbishing its Metaverse avatars, which will be available to view from October 1st. The new avatars will be available to use in Meta apps, including Facebook.
Meta’s last few years have been circling integrating AI capabilities in its platforms. The AI tech giant is heading a step ahead in creating innovative and unique technological products that revolutionize the use of AI. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg claimed there will be no other product in the market that can come close to their new launches. While the new launches are yet to position themselves in the hands of the customer, the Meta Annual Connect 2024 already created a buzz in the market.
